RECENT EVENT: SEMINAR WITH JOHN C. COFFEE (COLUMBIA LAW SCHOOL)
On Tuesday 10 June 2014 a very succesfull seminar was organized by the ACCF. Prof. John C. Coffee spoke on The Leading Transatlantic Issues in Securities Regulation: Hedge Fund Activism, High Frequency Trading and Extraterritoriality.
Professor Coffee is the Adolf A. Berle Professor of Law at Columbia Law School, New York and director of its Center on Corporate Governance. He is a fellow at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is an expert in the field of corporate governance and regulation of capital markets. He was repeatedly listed as among the ‘100 most influential lawyers’ in the US and served in many positions as an advisor on the financial sector. He was member of the Advisory Council of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on the Capital Formation and Regulatory Process, the Subcouncil on Capital Markets of the United States Competitiveness Policy Council, the Advisory Council of the New York Stock Exchange, the Legal Advisory Board and the Market Regulation Committee of the NSAD and the Economic Advisory Board to Nasdaq.
He is the author and editor of several casebooks, in 2013 Federal Securities Laws: Selected Statutes, Rules and Forms (with H.A. Sale), Foundation Press, St. Paul (MN). In 2012 Coffee was a co-author of The Regulatory Aftermath of the Global Crisis (Cambridge University Press, New York).
